RDM (Remount Depot Mona): The Holidays In Horseman-paradise!

About:

Remount Depot Mona is the biggest functional Remount Installation in the world. It is a prestigious setup with splendid landscaping of lush green fields, graceful trees and outstanding charges. This Horsemen Paradise is spread over 10,000 acres. It is a renowned establishment of Pakistan Army. Yes, it is a stunning, captivating natural scenery, full of the best Equine (Horses) collection of the world. This is the only institution of its kind which is preserving the Equestrian culture and acting as a guardian of Horsemanship and Horse master-ship in the country. Functioning at its utmost capacity, here horses are trained for use as rides, show Jumping and Polo Ponies, and Mules for use as pack and drought animals in difficult hilly terrain. Mona has a very rich Heritage. This place has a unique Wildlife, natural Fauna and Flora of extra ordinary species. It is the nature’s window, through which the wonders have been magnified.
RDM is approximately 40 km far from Sargodha. When we enter RDM, there is an entrance check post  where one has to identify oneself and guess what, the most amazing thing is that the vehicle is being sprayed by an anti-germ aerosol, so that horses may not be harmed or get sick by the germs from out area of RDM.

My Trip:

Well, I observed all this when I went to Remount Depot Mona, where my khaalu (uncle) Major Shehzad Ahmed was posted there and still he is. So I decided to stay there for a week spent my holidays and tried to make best ever at that time.  Secondly my own hobby for riding forced me to go RDM many times. People love to go there who are just fond of horses and greenery and some scenic view, but those are very unhappy who also want good internet signals there. LOL. Because RDM is sort of a jungle having a great beauty so one won’t find any market, traffic and yes the “telecom signals”. There are no cars allowed to be driven in the whole depot by Commandant RDM orders.

Every officer is authorized probably 2 chariots. And an officer can avail a buggy trip to whole RDM for his guests etc. the holidays began like this:

Officers' Mess RDM:

I arrived RDM at 8:00 am and to uncle’s home at 8:15 am. There got freshen up and had home’s lavish breakfast made by my aunt. Then we got the chariot in front of uncle’s home and we went to Officers’ Mess Mona. There we had some juice of RDM’s fresh oranges, than we had a buggy ride from the Officers’ Mess to whole RDM.
I had visited and took some information about these places and things of RDM:

WAHO (World Arabian Horse Organization) Cottage:

The WAHO cottage is praise to World Arabian Horse Organization (WAHO) is the world organization for the preservation, improvement and preservation of Arabian horses. WAHO cottage consists of the things regarding the standard operating procedure of horsemen about riding and polo. Complete historical backgrounds with all exemplary materials are being placed there. WAHO cottage is a very beautiful place.

Arabian Horse Stud: A pure-bred Arabian horse is one which appears in any pure-bred Arabian Stud Book or Register listed by WAHO as acceptable. “World Arabian Horse Organization” was established in 1972 with one of the most important objective to “maintain the purity of Arabian Breed blood of horses throughout the world. In front of WAHO Cottage, there’s an Arab Horse Stud. From the ancient deserts of the Middle East evolved the oldest known breed of riding horse, the Arabian. Now one of the most popular breeds in America, the Arabians' incredible energy, intelligence and gentle disposition allow riders to excel in most equine sports and activities. Today, Arabian horses spend as much time on the trail as they do at horse shows and other competitive events.
This stud has a really awesome horse probably known as “Prophet (PBUH) thumb Horse”. Really beautiful brown coloured horse it is with a mark on its neck which the mark of “Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) thumb”. Actually there are about 200 horses remaining from this gene.

WAHO Botanical Garden/Park:

The WAHO Botanical Garden/Park is right with the WAHO cottage. It has the most beautiful genes of flowers and other plants planted by the best gardeners there.

National Equitation Academy/Army Equitation School (AEC):

Army Equitation School is the integral part of RDM. It is the Animal and Plant Kingdom, the biggest functional Remount Installation. The purpose of Army Equitation School is to impact training in stable management, horse mastership and equestrian games like polo and show jumping to officers and all ranks of own and other arms/services.

 Donkey Breeding Stud:

Donkey Breeding Stud is the only biggest stud in the world. There’s no donkey breeding stud except this one in the whole world. It has worlds every gene of donkeys.

Regarding feeding these animals owner merely consider their feeding. Mostly animals are not being fed properly. Ration feeding is not practiced only rice husk is given to some selected animals. Research is lacking regarding feeding strategies, nutrient requirements to achieve maximum health status.

Tree House:

The Tree House is located right near the Officers’ Mess RDM.  The Specialty of tree house is that it is a huge wooden one and on a single tree. I really enjoyed ta and the view from the tree house.

Mona Is More Beautiful Than Mona Lisa:

Falabella:

The Falabella miniature horse is one of the smallest breeds of horse in the world, seldom taller than 8 hands (32 inches, 81 cm) in height at the withers. The Falabella, despite its size, is not considered a pony, but rather is a miniature horseAverage breed heights for a fully-grown Falabella today are between 71 and 86 cm probably.
The breed is proportioned similarly to horses, other than in size. They are similar to thoroughbreds or Arabs in their conformation, with a sleek coat and a slim frame. The Falabella’s body is small and compact.
The breed also inherited some cob-like features from pony bloodlines, including sturdy bone, and a thicker hair coat, particularly the mane, tail and around the fetlocks. The head may be slightly larger and the neck is often stouter by comparison with a normal-sized horse, but overall, the animal is not unusually or abnormally proportioned.
